Patriotism
A patriot is someone who loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interests with devotions. Our country, America, still faces conflicts today including the war going on right now. There are about 68,000 troops in Afghanistan including the 30,000 troops Barack Obama is sending over soon. Being a patriot to your country is the best thing you could ever possibly do.
First off, there are many issues going on like poverty, education, and wars. Poverty is a huge issue because there are many people who are homeless and a lot of them die. Education is also a big issue because if you want to make money and/or be successful in life you should go to high school and college so you have a degree in something or some jobs won’t let you work for them. Wars are probably the biggest issue because we’ve had so many of them and a lot of people died protecting our country. Plus, there isn’t any reason to start or have a war because a lot of people die and we don’t have to have war because we can all just live in peace.
In addition, gangs and cartels are very well-known around America. Gangs and cartels are bad but some people have to be in one because of what they believe and/or their religious beliefs. The KKK is one of the worst gangs and they are not even close to being patriotic. They kill black people just cause the color of their skin. It’s terrible that people judge other people by their race, color of skin, and religion.
In the end, being a patriot is the best thing you could do. You respect what your country is and how it is. You shouldn’t disrespect the people or the country or the flag otherwise bad things could and will happen.
