Character Analysis of Johnny Cade
I’m doing my character analysis on Ponyboy Curtis. I picked Ponyboy because he stands up for what he believes in and he’s not as mean as the other Greasers. He’s also adventurous and his best friend is Johnny Cade. I don’t think I identify on any level with Ponyboy, except when Dally is being mean to Cherry, Ponyboy told Dally to leave her alone. Ponyboy wasn’t supposed to tell Dally what to do but he did anyway. Johnny Cade is similar to Ponyboy because they ran away with each other; they both are nice and they both went into the burning church to sacrifice their lives to save others.
Ponyboy is revealed in the beginning of the story when he’s walking home and gets jumped by the Socs. He has light-brown, almost-red hair and greenish-gray eyes. One example of what Ponyboy did was that he ran away with Johnny Cade because Darry slapped Ponyboy so hard that it knocked him against the door. Another example was after Ponyboy got hit by Darry he ran to Johnny in the park and said, “Come on, Johnny, we’re running away.” When he said that I think he meant he was running away from home with Johnny. These examples tell me that Ponyboy escapes situations by doing the easiest way out of it.
Ponyboy changes when he and Johnny run away, because I think Ponyboy had enough of Darry yelling at him. One example of Ponyboy changing was when he told Dally to leave Cherry alone. No Greaser told Dally what to do but Ponyboy did, because he didn’t think it was okay for Dally to be mean to Cherry or any girl. Another example was when Ponyboy was smoking in bed and Darry told him to put it out then Ponyboy said, “I’ll be more careful.” When he said that he meant not to smoke in bed anymore. Change is important to Ponyboy because if Ponyboy was the same without change throughout the whole novel, none of the running away, killing, and fights would’ve happened.
Near the end of the book, Ponyboy becomes emotional because Johnny dies in the hospital and Dally gets shot by the police. One example of change in Ponyboy was when Johnny dies in the hospital. Ponyboy changed because the Greasers and the Socs were going to brawl, and Ponyboy wanted to fight for Johnny. Johnny was Ponyboy’s best friend and he was more than a buddy to the Greasers. Another example was when Sodapop went hastily out the door and Darry and Ponyboy went chasing after him. Sodapop did this because he didn’t like it when Darry and Ponyboy fought and argued all the time. They both then agreed to stop arguing. I think the change is for the better because when Ponyboy and Darry agreed to stop arguing, Sodapop was happier. Also if there was no change in a person how would they get through life being the same?
In the future, I think Ponyboy will go to college and do well in school. Ponyboy is smart and nice and I don’t think he will get into much trouble in the future. Also I think the Greasers and the Socs will consolidate but not completely, I just think they’ll leave each other alone after Johnny killed Bob, and the Greasers beating the Socs in the big brawl. Sacrificing your life for another isn’t always the best idea but sometimes you can save more than one life and still have yours.
Call of Duty: Black Ops
It was made by the company named, “Treyarch.” They are the best Call of Duty makers because they made World at War which included the mini-game called “Nazi Zombies” which everyone loved so much! They also featured Nazi Zombies in this game too, and so far it’s a big hit. “Call of Duty: Black Ops” is by far one of the best “Call of Duty’s” made, because it considers many different features and game modes that all of the other “Call of Duty’s” don’t have.
First off, the unlocks in this game have changed so much. The camos have changed because, in “Modern Warfare 2,” you had to earn headshots to get the camos on your guns that you wanted them for. They added many different camos; all you have to do to get them is buy them with COD POINTS, which are earned by completing challenges and killing people. COD POINTS are what you use to buy guns, camos, attachments, killstreaks, and equipment. This is one of the reasons this game is so well designed.
In addition, the maps are way different which a good thing is! There are about 18 maps. Some of them are Nuketown, Grid, Firing Range, and many more! The maps vary from all different sizes! Nuketown is one of the smallest maps in the game. The biggest map is probably Grid. These maps are much better than Modern Warfare 2, because they are different with better spots to hide.
In addition to that, they have changed up the perks and took out some of them which are a good thing. The perks that they took out were stopping power, danger close, and commando. They kept some of the same perks but, they just named them differently. Perks are what you use as an advantage while playing the game. They give you an extra boost. For example, hardline is when you get your killstreaks 1 kill shorter than what it would take before. These are what make the game beast.
In the end, this game “Call of Duty Black Ops” is doing really well. There are over 500,000 people on it on PS3 and more still on other consoles. The Call of Duty series is really well designed and I recommend you going and buying it. SO GO OUT AND GET A GAME SYSTEM IF YOU DON’T HAVE ONE AND BUY IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
